41 LaGrange is a new affordable multifamily community in downtown Boston, in partnership with St. Francis House and the Planning Office for Urban Affairs (POUA.) The 19-story tower is the second phase of the preceding rehabilitation and preservation of the Boston Young Men’s Christian Union, originally constructed in 1875.

Out of the 126 units, 70 will be set aside as permanent supportive housing for those experiencing homelessness. The program includes 54 studios, 18 one-bedroom, and 54 two-bedroom units with resident amenities such as a community room, laundry facility, lounge, fitness center, indoor bike storage, supportive services, and management offices.

The building’s main facade is composed of a rigid grid pattern that is broken by a vertical recessed reveal with respect to its neighbor, The Kensington. An accent-colored bay extends the full height of the building, serving as a distinctive marker for its entrance. The building systems are all electric and designed to be LEED Gold certifiable. Additionally, the project will bring public realm improvements to the surrounding streetscape, eliminating a surface parking lot and providing a safer, more comfortable pedestrian experience.
