Alta Altitude derives its name and design from its surroundings, rooted in its unique Rhode Island location at the junction of coastal charm and local aviation heritage.
A new development of two mid-rise multifamily buildings, the project is built on the former off-site parking lot for the abutting T.F. Green Airport, and is part of Warwick’s “City Centre” master plan.
This master plan concept converges air, rail, and highway access in Warwick to transform a 95-acre area into more than 1.5 million square feet of office, retail, hotel, commercial, and residential spaces.
Located on the main corridor of Post Road, Alta Altitude gives residents walkability to the MBTA/Amtrak serving Boston and Providence, immediate access to I-95 and I-295, and the airport connector.
Thoughtful scaling, varied high-quality materials, and subtle plane articulation break down the massing of the buildings and create a cohesive architectural presence along Post Road that responds to the evolving streetscape.
Alta Altitude holds 214 market-rate units with varying layouts, including apartments with balconies inset into the exterior. The two buildings are designed to surround a vibrant courtyard, creating a private oasis from the bustling city surroundings, with outdoor seating and dining, grilling stations, a fire pit, and a resort-style swimming pool.
Leaning into a warm and welcoming palette of soft blues, silver, green, and creams, the interior design encapsulates the adage “where the ocean meets the sky.” This concept subtly weaves the project’s aviation-inspired palette with light, warm woods – an elegant nod to classic nautical craftsmanship.
Sculptural installations in one of the lobbies are crafted from dyed nautical rope that wraps the leasing desk and banquettes, forming upward-sweeping wing motifs that highlight the aviation and maritime connection.
The clubroom extends this narrative, inviting residents to gaze upward, with organic light fixtures and a mirrored ceiling wallcovering reminiscent of an open sky.
Custom artwork in the fitness center celebrates the exhilaration of flight, and the rich tapestry of color for furniture and fixtures draws inspiration from the mid-century glamour of the golden age of air and sea travel.
