It’ll never happen, but I want Boston to adopt me as one of their own. I have an affinity for a city that says what it means and means what it says—and looks so damn beautiful saying it. Each summer, I make the pilgrimage to Fenway Park with my youngest kid, Lucy, and we eat up the atmosphere of baseball’s living shrine.

It helps, of course, if you stay at Raffles Boston, the only property for the storied hotel brand in the U.S. It opened three years ago in Back Bay at the corner of Stuart Street and Trinity Place. From the lobby to the 17th-floor Long Bar & Terrace, the place is an unqualified knockout.

The design, by Boston-based The Architectural Team, is a study in glass and light, while Stonehill Taylor drew the interiors from Boston’s Emerald Necklace, its historic architecture and botanical heritage.
