A Modern Approach to Senior Living
The $13.1 million rehabilitation of a 43,000 square foot assisted living facility, originally completed by TAT in 2004, into a 48 unit senior living community, transforming an underutilized asset into affordable housing for seniors 62 and older. The new program creates full-sized apartments with kitchens in a mix of nine studios, 38 one-bedrooms, and one two-bedroom unit. Ten percent of the total units are designed to be fully accessible. HVAC and plumbing systems, lighting fixtures, roofing, and windows were replaced and upgraded for efficiency. Elevators were modernized, and a new solar PV array was added to the roof.
Located in the heart of Boston’s Charlestown neighborhood, this reimagined development sits on a tree-lined street within walking distance of public transportation, retail, and local attractions. Original exterior design by Neshamkin French Architects.
